CodeUp Manchester

Want to know more about some of the events run at SpacePortX? Claire Dodd gives us the low down on CodeUp Manchester and the value it's adding to Manchester's growing tech community.

The CodeUp Journey

Wednesday 25th March saw the 2nd CodeUp Manchester session, hosted at SpacePortX and it was another great success. CodeUp Manchester was devised by Claire Dodd and Pam Wheeler, two aspiring coders who struggled to find the support they needed in order to achieve their goals. Seeing the need for somewhere people can go for help, CodeUp Manchester was developed as a monthly meetup where adults learning to code can get free support and guidance. CodeUp's mentors are some of Manchester's brightest developers, who we thank for giving up their time once a month to provide the support the attendees need.

How is CodeUp doing?

So far, each session has seen between 20 and 30 attendees take over SpacePortX to take part in workshops for HTML & CSS, Scratch, Javascript, Java, Ruby & Mobile App development, but the joy of these sessions is that you can come and get support in learning whatever you want to learn. With multiple mentors on hand there will always be someone who can answer your question, so whether you're a complete beginner wanting to learn how to build a website, a budding app developer or someone needing a bit of guidance on a more specific problem, CodeUp Manchester can provide the support you need.

CodeUp Manchester is held on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 7pm, if you would like to sign up for the next session, please RSVP on our MeetUp page.

If you would like more information, please check out the website, follow CodeUp on twitter or email the organisers on [email protected].

There you have it, some great insights into one of Manchester's great tech events. To see what else SpacePortX has to offer checkout our events page and don't be a stranger - pop by and say hi!
